New Build

Location:

The scheme at Honiton Community College was a new purpose built Technology and Modern Foreign Languages Building to replace the existing old, poorly equipped existing Technology and MFL Buildings, which were in very poor condition.

The existing sub-standard buildings were demolished to provide additional external paved areas for Sport and PE. The scheme is viewed by the College as Phase 1 of longer term redevelopment of the very oldest and poorest stock of College buildings. The new building has been designed to provide the College with state of the art technology and languages facilities in a contemporary building.

Whilst the College campus is primarily red brick with slate pitched roofs, the new building is a combination of fibre cement rainscreen cladding and render, with grey aluminium windows and brise-soleil. However, the spectrum of greys, extending from anthracite to nearly white, have been carefully chosen to reflect and identify with the character of the town of Honiton, with it’s Georgian houses and stone buildings, slate roofs and rendered facades.

After the successful completion of Phase 1, the next phase to provide a new sports and pe facilities has been completed as an integrated addition to the phase 1 Technology and MFL building.
